The road to to success is always under construction. _____________________________________________________________________________ When the going gets tough, the tough use duct tape.
So who wants the challenge of doing that paint job???
Gee that GP-40 looks like my engines when I get finished painting them.
I did not know I was so close to protos.
Now everyone has to stop kidding me.
Very interesting blend of colors on that engine. Hopefully they don't repaint it anytime soon.
No I wouldn't complain either. Like mother earth wants an old favorite back too!
bubbajustinGreat find Gilford Guy. Really didn't take a lot of time to do a quality job there did theay?

I was making a present day roster of B&M equipment, and HATX 500 is B&M 307. Everyone claims VTR 306, 307, 308 and 314 are their corresponding B&M number, however the only VTR GP40-2 that is ex B&M is VTR 308, which was B&M 314.
How long did that one take you to find?

Boston & Maine 316 is often given the credit as being the last locomotive to wear B&M paint. However, deep in Georgia, the Georgia & Florida Railroad uses an almost as unique example. It is well known that Guilford did a poor job of applying their gray in the 1980's, as evidenced by the bleeding GP40-2s owned by HATX, VTR, and CP. HATX 500 is a unique locomotive, in that not only is the blue bleeding through, but the gray and orange has deteriorated so much, that "Boston & Maine" is clearly distinguishable on the long hood, and "BM" on the nose.
Judging by the photo date, 500 appears to be in regular service, and one can only hope how long it will be until a paint job befalls it, such as on HATX 505.
