The "BEEP" to be Retired

Trains March 2009 page 21 reports BNSF 1460, the "BEEP", switcher to be formally retired by BNSF.
Here is my photo of the original ATSF SWBLW 2450 in Houston while leased to the PTRA in 1972.

Like the SD40-2's all good thing's must come to an end... Sadly. All we can do is hope for a mirical or hope for a mirical.

Thanks for the great shot of the "Beep". I remember seeing her in Cleburne when she was new. I made several trips to the shops while the CF-7 rebuild project was happening and she was there too. Pretty cool looking engine and apparently not a bad rebuild to last this long. Sure would like to see the "Beep" make it to a museum. Maybe Dallas Age of Steam or the Galveston one.

 Were you aware the AOS Museum is moving to Frisco? They offered a deal AOS couldnt resist !

Frisco was a RR town, and with their new look and upscale downtown their making a play for the tourist...

I heard that they said on another forum that when they are ready to retire it it will be preserved.

I had heard the museum was thinking of moving but hadn't heard any specifics. I think Frisco would be a great spot.....especially if they're willing to work with them. One thing the AOS has always been short of is space. Maybe now they can get the displays separated enough to get pictures.

When is the move to take place?
