A couple of other former ATSF silverbonnets were repainted into BNSF silverbonnets in the early 2000s that I know of, B40-8W 573 and C44-9W 681.  BNSF 681 was involved in a wreck too. I think it was up to the contractor who repainted these locos.

I guess leaving it in the Warbonnet scheme is sorta like it being a Heritage unit?...Confused

I'm surprised that it wasn't repainted into Heritage colors after the repairs were completed.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Attached a giant air hose and re-inflated it.  Good to see it back in service after such a wreck.

Just shows the longativity of EMD's. You can wreck them, rebuild them, and they just keep on ticking.

GP60M BNSF 101 - before and after

In 1998 BNSF 101, a  GP60M, was wrecked at Niota IL, east of the Fort Madison bridge.  BNSF 101's body was totally wrecked.  Here’s what it looked like just after the wreck, and another of BNSF 101 several years later after rebuilding.  It’s a miracle it’s still in service considering the damage it took.
