C45AC evo's are easy to spot. they're usually not running, spewing smoke and or lube oil out it's EPA Tier II rated stack or sitting in the shop. BUT they usually have fresh paint and funky looking appendage ahead of the radiators where the Air to air charge air coolers are.
The 4400hp AC's and the 6000 hp AC's have different prime movers powering the generators....thus the additonal 3 feet of length in the AC 6000hp engines.

Again, thanks for the information. Now what about the Evo engines vs the AC's? I'm sure that there are a large number of differences, I just haven't had a chance to see any of the GEVO's come through here yet.
AC6000 is longer 76 feet verus 73 feet also the air tanks on the AC 44 are set into the fuel tank versus on top of it on the AC6000. The 4400 has one stack the 6000 has 2 since it has 2 turbos and there are a few other differances.
Thanks y'all. I've got CSX units running through here daily, I just couldn't remember the primary external differences. I'm going to be doing a layout of the Troy, AL area and I see a ton of GE units running through the area. I knew about the CSX difference of labeling under the cab side road number, but I can't always catch the consists when they're either coming into a passing siding just south of Troy, or at the Conecuh Valley RR interchange in downtown Troy when they're picking up a string of hoppers. I was really just wanting to see if I could cheat and use AC4400 models from someone, but just number them as '6000s. Oh well, guess I'll find AC6000CW's and AC4400CW models. Well I guess my next question would be obvious. What about the ES4400s and ES6000s as compared to the AC's?
Of course with the CSX units there's always the helpful spotting feature of the "AC60CW" decal under the cab side road number..O.C it may not be such an easy ID as the loco flashes by at 60+!

CSX AC6000CW at Anchorage, Kentucky on a Southbound.
The radiator on the AC6000CWs (and the convertibles) overhangs the rear walkway also.
Two things come to mind. I have seen both here in the Louisville area. The AC6000CW has a larger radiator area. The other thing is that the AC6000CW has twin exhaust stacks.
I know that this might sound like a hokey question to ask, but I was wondering if there are any obvious differences between the GE AC4400CW and the GE AC6000CW? I know that the power ratings are different between the two engines, but I didn't know if essentially they were the same externally, but just different internally.
