Help with Lionel 671 Steam Engine Lever
Posted by aikenoscaler on Friday, January 9, 2009 7:28 PM

I am new to the forum.  I am new to the O scale and have recently acquired a early post war lionel 671 steam engine.  It is a lever protruded from the top middle of the engine.  I'm not sure of it's funtion.  Any help on this would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks!!!

It is probably the lever to bypass the "E" unit which is the reversing mechanism. If you set the lever to one side the locomotive will resume operating in the direction it was traveling before you turned off the power instead of reversing.

You will probably get more responses to this if you post it in the correct forum. In this case go to the main forum index and select the CLASSIC TOY TRAINS forum. The TRAINS magazine forum is primarily for discussions about full size(i.e not toy or model trains) railroading...
