D & H 4071

Here is a link to a picture of a Delaware and Hudson RS-3.  I have never seen this paint scheme before.  Can anyone tell me about it?

Can't tell what railroad it was, though it is pretty certainly a quick touch up to get the D&H logo on it.  Bet it was unique on the system though.

Looks like an old P&W engine to me.

Yes that is one of the engines the D&H leased to the P&W. They returned to the D&H when the lease was up, still in P&W paint.

On 2 Feb 1973, 6 RS3s included #4071 were leased to the Providence and Worcester.  The Colonie Shops repainted them for P&W prior to sending them on.  Several units were returned around 1974.  Most were scrapped in P&W paint, but 4071 was repainted into Lighting Stripes.

Consider some of the hand-me-downs that D&H received on April 1, 1976.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul
