What is the original colors for FEC?

FEC 2000 is painted in the railroads original colors although there is a bit of fading in that shot. The paint scheme on 2000 is also a good adaption of the original scheme as used on EMD E-units to a hood unit. F-units, BL2s, GP7s, and  GP9s were delivered new in this paint scheme. The Blue paint scheme appeared in the 1960's.

FEC is getting 4 new M-2's. 104-106 were on Q681 yesterday to Waycross meaning 457 should have had those 3 yesterday or right now as I speak.

BTW, sadly there were some LIARNOC's in the Jacksonville area last weekend. You can thank the beeeej preddy and Clinton the Great for the new nickname for conrail.

I agree with espeefoamer, those would look really sharp on a M-2. The only engine to have that paint scheme is FEC 2000. 2000 is really looking sharp in the orginal FEC paint scheme. I would prefer the first FEC paint scheme that that one currently. I would have to see it in person.

He might see come Connies out there but, not FEC country besides Bowden. I don't think I have seen a Gonrail at FEC Bowden. I have heard NS is painting all the remaining connies into NS paint by June, Yippie!

I'm heading down that way in a few weeks, I'll see if I can catch one of the newly painted units, if anything at all.

I think they should go back to FECs old passenger scheme. It was red and yellow, and looked almost like SPs Daylight scheme with yellow replacing the orange.

That's the "Rail America Scheme" paint that will most likely be appearing on all the RA properties as engines come to them and get repainted.

As far as I have heard, the 70's are going to stay at FEC. For now, the only power that's migrated off the FEC is to the NECR, as far as I know.

And FEC isn't "owned" by RA. It's owned by Fortress (who owns RA), with the management from RA being put into place.

That's a sharp paint scheme.

I'm not sure CAZEPHYR.  I just saw the topic here and remembered that the 2 pics were on railpics, so I posted the link so we can see the 2 differences.

I like the silver frame better, I'm hoping that's the one that RailAmerica goes with if they don't go back to the FEC yellow/blue scheme.

The picture that was posted is actually the second of the newest paint schemes RailAmerica did for FEC.  The first one had a silver underframe instead of the black.  Here are the 2 paint schemes.  I, personally, like the silver underframe.

Is there any explanation for the silver frame and trucks on the 106 compared to the black frame and trucks on the 107??  I noticed the 107 does not have its complete markings at the time when the picture was taken.

One scheme must be correct and the other one questionable.

Will the management of RailAmerica operate the new FEC SD70M-2s only on the FEC?

Yes.  White and yellow are the two permissible colors...

The more I look at that 'silver underframe", the more I think it's not silver but primer.

Yes, I prefer the FEC yellow/blue much more than the new scheme.  However, with the new RailAmerica scheme I do prefer with the silver underframe and NOT the black.  What they should have done is keep the FEC scheme and put the RailAmerica patch somewhere on it?

Does anyone like this color or prefer the old color of FEC?

FEC is now part of the RailAmerica conglomerate and those are the company colors.
