I think they go by NCDOT. I am not sure of this.

NC-DOT subsidizes them, Amtrak operates them.  Don't know if this will make a diff. or not.  -  a.s.

This is the Piedmont pulling into Charlotte.  Trains 73 and 74, owned by NCDOT.

The Carolinian, trains 79 and 80 is also funded by NCDOT but appears to be Amtrak equipment.

The Crescent trains 19 and 20, is an Amtrak train that comes through Charlotte.

There is another NCDOT owned train that is being refurbish as we speak and will be put into service when it is finished.  We expect it in the spring.

I think the Ashville train is on hold for financial reasons.

Not cancelled, but delayed.

Reporting marks are NCDT.

I've seen NCDT 1792 - sharp looking locomotive and one I wish I would have been able to get a better view of than a long distance grab shot at dusk (especially given that at that location in Raleigh there were a bunch of interesting old passenger cars sitting around - one was labeled Pullman Villa Real and also a baggage car with some markings which I think were Canadian and a RPO car (at least it was labeled United States Mail).  So I guess they store equipment near the old train station in Raleigh

That's the  1792 pulling the Piedmont in the picture at the beginning of this thread.
