The A-200 honker is a safe way to go as many early diesel cab units were equipped with them out of the factory, however, many Alcos units received the WABCO E2 honkers early on. The E2 had a deeper sounding "honk".
I looked at various photos of Alco FAs, and of course the types of horns do vary. Look carefully at your photos and see if you can have a pretty good view of the horn. WABCO horns were a little longer and slender than comparable Leslies.

I am wanting to install a Loksound 3.5 sound decoder in my Proto 2000 U.P. FA1 set, but I really don't know which horn type they used on them. By the photos that I have seen maybe the Leslie A-200 type.
