SD70ACes numbered 9330 and up lack the Isolated cab found on the newest batch of SD70ACes. EMD generally hasn't done a good job on cab noise insulation, unless requested by the railroads. They just meet FRA minimums. Older Isolated cab EMDs are also good, if the railroad maintains the Isolation bushings at overhaul time.

Does anyone out there know why the BNSF 9300 series engines are the loudest engine ever made? Out of all the engines I have ever been in, from the newest to the oldest, the BNSF emd's 9300 series is by far the loudest engine I have ever been. The most interesting thing is this, the newest emd's that BNSF has received 9100-9299 are some of the quitest engines I have ever rode in!
