I remember reading the Cadiz article in Trains when it first came out. I have always thought shortline stories are as interesting if not more interesting than big time railroading.
I replied to the MR thread, so might as well to this one as well. The photos are from one of Terry Kirkland's vacation trips. I am not certain of the date. The Cadiz caboose is certainly noteworthy. Terry often sought out shortlines on his sojourns away from his native TEXAS.
June Trains has an article pertaining to the Cadiz RR. I know the author of the article, Stan White, who was President and General Manager of the short line prior to his retirement.
I took the photo of the forlorn number 8, and Alco S-1, as it looks today. It's in Caidz near the interchange of I-24 and US-68.
My friend, Gus, has a neat HO model of #8 and I posted it in the MR Forum.
