great northern emd sd/7 trailing a gp7

between 1955-1968, great northern freights operating around northern mn, would there have been times where you would have had a sd7 with a trailing gp7 pulling the freight ?. thanks

You bet. The SD7's would be mated with those say for instance on a local freight. They mingled with the SD9'S and GP9's and on the taconite trains with F7's. I have seen pics of SD7's trailing GP7's and 9's as well.

Just remember both were operated long hood forward on the GN, so if they were operating back to back the short hood ends would be coupled together.
