CNW F3's
Posted by CNW-man on Friday, November 2, 2007 8:31 PM

Hello,

I'm curious of the fate of the CNW F3's. From my research, I've learned that they got sent back to EMD in 1956, but that's all I know of their fates. Were they simple scrapped afterwards or did they see light again as leased locos? Like I said, I'm just curious.

C & NW traded some of their 1947 built F3s for GP9s built in 1959. The same held true for some F7s built in 1949 who were traded in for more GP9s the same year as the F3s. After assessing their trade-in value, and applying any parts to the new GP9s, provided the North Western requested that, the F3s were probably sent to the scrap yard.
From here to there, and back again.
