As of today the 2051 was running. The 2054 has joined the others out of WSOR service.
Every engine is different. We have engines from IC, C&EI, UP, MP, MILW, C&O, CRIP, (some of the SD20s were SOU-CNO&TP, others were UP SD24Bs) some spent time on MKT. They have been around. The GP38s are not Dash-2, although 3803-04-06-07-08 have sight glasses.
The SD20's are indeed being retired and as replacements the railroad is getting 6 (possibly 8) MP15AC's via National Railway Equipment. These units are just now entering the NRE shops for work so it will likely be another month or two before the first units appear on WSOR property.
Also enroute are several SD40-2 rebuilds (former SD40 rebuilt to DASH 2 specs) which are being numbered in the 4075 series. These are coming from Mid America Car in Kansas City and atleast one unit is on the WSOR property already, either #4076 or 4077. Don't remember the exact number of units, but should be 3-5 locomotives.

Take a breath somewhere in there next time. It makes it easier to read.
The currently UP-painted locomotives are 4010 and 4053. Neither have been painted simply because there either hasn't been time to get them into the paint shop, or they've been in high demand in revenue service. Usually you don't take a locomotive out of service just for paint when you need it in service. There aren't any patched BNSF locomotive on WSOR that I'm aware of.
Last I was told the SD20s were leased from NREX, and that their lease might have been up. Mr. Gardner seems to have fallen in love with the SD40-2s, so he may have wanted to get more of those instead of renewing the SD20 lease.
The 4076 is the only of the ex-Utah units currently on site, though two more are supposed to be at Davis Junction on the Iowa, Chicago, and Eastern working their way to the WSOR. If I remember right the lease agreement was for four of the units altogether, so there must still be one coming.
I've also heard rumors the MP15s that were supposed to come to the WSOR were actually headed for the CRANDIC. But that was just on a yahoo group though, so whether it's right or wrong, well, we'll see I guess.

As arrived.

Two of the units were from that 750-752 group, though you've got the leasing outfit wrong -- it was MPEX. They weren't very popular on EJ&E, since they were mostly unrebuilt, and didn't work very well, from what I've heard! WSOR's units (4075-4078, four units) will all be rebuilt to SD40-2s -- nice pretty new electrical cabinet!
9010 (MJRX) was another unrebuilt SD40 (SD40e?), and was briefly loaned to WSOR since they were (still!) waiting for the other two units. It, and MJRX 711 (the former WC unit), both developed problems and were returned.
EJE818 wrote:I think all of WSORs SD20s are now gone, and that SD40-2s have taken over their duties. It is too bad now that other than the Es, all they own are SD40-2s and GP38-2s. I'm glad I got some photos of the SD20s when I did. They were some neat engines. Oh well, at least the WSOR could be running in the Chicago area during the day on CP now!
I thought they got rid of their E uints?
I see that there is a couple of beat up ex TFM GP38-2 locomotives sitting in Janesville. Are those going to be WSOR's? And I got a photo of a red GP15 sitting in Janesville last week but it disappeared quickly. I took a few photos of WSOR's stuff from the former Super America gas station by 5 points a got hasseled by a bum---IN JANESVILLE!

The E units were sold at one point, but that was way back in 2001. They were bought back again in 2004.
All indications are that the GP38s are for the WSOR, but of course I don't know for sure. Those suckers are in rough shape though....

Oh ok...no wonder...I kinda got out of trains for a while. Good to hear they at least have them back

I'm sure they're going to need quite a bit more than just paint, however...
The ex Mexican GP38-2's are the WSOR's. From what I saw of them, they all need major work. From electrical to mechanical to cosmetic. I don't know how much the WSOR paid for the units, but if was any more than scrap value, then it was to much. I don't know when any of the engines will be in service. but I'm sure it'll be some time from now.
