I will have to second that on the internet locomotive Rosters. I remember removing the couplers. draft gears, and some other parts from a old BNSF GP-9 locomotive that had been sitting in our yard for years as a spare parts locomotive. It was still shown as active last month despite nearly everything removed including the generator.

The roster books you find in the hobby shops are always at least one year behind even if they for the current year. The best way is to ask people on these forums who may live in the area.

Their rosters are, almost as a rule, terribly inaccurate. Take the BNSF roster as an example. Despite supposedly being regularly updated if you believe the dates they list, it still shows locomotives that haven't been on the roster for sometimes years at this point. They just removed the Beep a few weeks ago despite it having been donated several years ago and that Canadian Geep that they donated a while back is still shown despite both being some of the most notable units on the roster that could hardly slip through the cracks. If they can't get things like those right, you can count on there being many errors when it comes to run of the mill things like SD40-2's and Dash 9's that represent the bulk of their fleet.

It's my understanding that they don't operate U33B's anymore. If any are kicking around, they're just hulks at this point serving as parts donors.

According the The Diesel Shop,  Georgia central has 5 U33B's.  They are numbers 1012-1016 and are on their current roster.

GC is still running them on a regular basis.

We usually have one east and one west through town on weekdays butn the schedule is erratic.

I believe that the current operating roster of TransKentucky Transportation is mostly U36B's with some Dash-7's, which still would make it worth the trip.

Great question for me!!! Big Smile [:D] (Since I live right by GC's line) They no longer operate U33bs. They operate a roster of 13 locos, 7 U23Bs, 1 U30B, a GP18, 2 GP9s, and 1 SW9. Thats there current roster. Seeing these locos in service is amazing, they are rare today.

Is anyone aware of the status of the Georgia Central U33b's? Are they still operating? And I'm headed out towards the TTE in Kentucky soon, what do they have opertating these days? Still a handfull of U-Boats I'd imagine... Thanks
