Yeah, the general consensus is that its probably a turn of the century ten-wheeler, maybe a little newer, this also fits because L&N used a lot of ten wheelers, especially on these smaller rail lines.

If you're talking about the top photo then the 180 is just a problem with the image. This was taken from a cheaply produced local magazine, and the print wasn't very good. I did however find the same original image from a newspaper (not sure when it was published) and the number on the firebox door is 23.

I might be tempted to agree but I've found an L&N history book and L&N never ran a 4-8-0. They did however run the Consolidation (2-8-0), G-13 ten wheelers, and the class H-23's. Any of which could easily fit the photo, and all fit the time period.

I think I'm getting closer; and I think my first estimate of it being a 4-6-? might be wrong, instead I'm thinking now that it may be a 2-8-0 as pictured here
Ok, guys this one ran off the L&N line and was active in the first part of the 1900's possibly until the 1930's. This is the best image that I could find of the locomotive, in fact it was the only image that I could find. Any help that you might be able to provide will be greatly appreciated; engine type, engine number, possible equivelants for modeling.
BTW, from the photo it looks like a 4-6-?, maybe 2, but I can't be sure.
