Boston and Maine HEP equipped GP7s - couplers

What type of couplers were BM HEP equipped GP7s delivered with?  E or H type?  When did tightlock couplers become required for passenger service locomotives?

As far as I can tell from photos B&M GP7s never had tightlocks.  Even in MBTA service where they were MUed with RDCs (via an adapter cable) they had standard couplers.
