CSX 4601
Posted by cairosbd on Saturday, August 4, 2007 2:53 PM
Does anyone know where CSX 4601 (the last Seaboard System painted unit) is?  I know it was retired at the first of the year.  Is it stored somewhere?

Two months ago it was in the deadline at Huntington.

Thanks for the info!  Unfortunately I will probably not be making it to that area.

4601 isn't the last one. CSX 2667 still shows Seaboard System paint, unless if got painted?

Is the 4617 (C&O) still active. I saw it last winter when it was on WSOR for a few days.

Does 2667 stay in the Michigan area or does it travel the system?  I can't believe it does not have a yellow nose!!!

4617 should still be active.  I believe it travels the entire CSX system since I have heard of it showing up everywhere.  It is mainly assigned to work trains.

Well, not exactly. As you can see in this picture I took, 2667 has a small CSXT written under the number on the side of the cab.

It seems to stay in the Detroit and Toledo power pools, working out of Toledo/Stanley Oh or Plymouth, Lansing and Grand Rapids, MI (my area). I've seen it several times up here. Recently, it appears to be heading to Cumberland for it's 92 inspection.
