When you come right down to it those generally unseen small industrial steam locomotives are the unsung heroes of American industrialization, just as important in their own way as mainline steam. A story that deserves to be told.
A most interesting concept for both steam and preservation, the narrow-gauge steam that worked in the steel mills.
I looked at your website and this seems like a great idea. I wish you guys all the luck in the world.
Last year we started offering what we call "Steam Locomotive Experiences" at the J&L Narrow Gauge Railroad in Youngstown, OH. It is similar to other engineer for an hour programs except we extended it into a six hour session where the participants fire up the locomotive from cold in the morning all the way to putting away the hot engine in the afternoon. We offer the sessions almost every Sunday starting in June. For more info. go to https://youngstownsteel.org/Operating-Days
