The CNW F unit has been donated to the Boone & Scenic Valley RR. It's only going as far as Boone IA where it will be set out. It is an original CNW unit that was part of the CNW's business train power.

First: Thanks Modman for sharing that video!!
Talk about having a measure of mixed emotions....They are enroute to their new' Home @ Slivis; and probably- possibly a chance at re-birth, and 'second' lives.....A Rail-fan prayers
UP 3985 was/is a player in my memories;in a number of venues, experiences, live and in person. Many of us in the geezer class share similar experiences; at least there are a number of existing videos to spark those memories. At least the new home at the RRHMA site at Silvis,IL will be a place to aways spark similar memories, and maybe 'support' Their work as it progresses....
Here is a list of the equipment and the lineage of each.

The E9 B-unit is UP 966.
It was sold to Amtrak when UP got out of the passenger business, and was converted to a steam generator car at some point.
It was repurchasEd by UP bought when UP was refurbishing the E9 set.
It currently houses two steam generators and is unpowered.
Interestingly, they don't talk about the F7, but I seem to recall it was part of the CNW business train fleet and was acquired when UP bought CNW.

The trucks on the flat cars appear to be passenger car trucks. Perhaps they are spares?
What was the diesel B unit in the train, was the CNW painted F a real CNW engine? What were all the trucks that were loaded on cars for?
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Yes, thank you for the link!
Think about 5511 out on the high iron for the first time in 66 years!
3985 looks like a greyhound ready to sprint.
And was that an Iowa-class battleship getting pulled out of the Reserve Fleet to go back on active duty? Oh, wait, that was 6936 sailing by!
Well, here I was expecting something with Basil Rathbone but instead I get a rolling museum!
Cool! Thanks Mod-man!
