Definitely Sherman Hill with the red dirt.

Single track - probably Track 3 constructed in 1953 to let Big Boys move tonnage westbound without a helper.

Steel water tower - looks to be Harriman, Wyoming.

Most likely somewhere along the line over Sherman Hill.  There were numerous water stops along the way.

 

That would be my guess too Helmut, either heading away from or going to Cheyenne Wyoming.
