The Isle of Wight railway until recently used 1938 vintage "tube stock" as the Limeys call it. I rode on such trains on my first visit to London in 1974. Upholstered seats, wooden flooring and varnished wood trim.
A few years ago, my wife and I were looking at different cruise options. One had a stop in Jersey. I thought the Channel Islands would be a quaint little out of the way place until I went to Wiki. Jersey and Guernsey have quite high population densities.

BTW, the Channel Islands is not part of the United Kingdom, although they do acknowledge Elizabeth Windsor as their sovereign in her capacity as the Duke (that's right, Duke, not Duchess) of Normandy. The islands are the last remnant of the medieval duchy remaning to the English Crown.

Toronto sold a bunch of redundant PCC cars to Alexandria, Egypt in 1966. They were made redundant by the opening of the Bloor-Danforth subway. Several other PCCs were sold to various new systems in the U.S, such as Bayonne, N.J. A bunch of older subway cars were sold about 10 years ago to Kuala-Lumpur.

Are you sure it was Bayonne? Public Service had converted completely to bus by 1952. However, the Newark Subway ran PCC cars until 2001. BUT
"Starting in January 1954, 30 PCC streetcars bought from Twin City Rapid Transit provided all service on the route. They were single-ended, requiring construction of a new turning loop at the Franklin Avenue terminal. The cars had been built 1946–1949 by the St. Louis Car Company and were sold by TCRT when that system went through a conversion to buses. Four cars were scrapped over the years, and two were sold to Shaker Heights Rapid Transit in 1978."
And Wikipedia's entry on PCC's has the Newark Subway as only operator in New Jersey
I'm referring to a new-build system and recall two PCCs heading south on flat-bed trucks in about 1999. Not sure if it was Bayonne, but they were going to the States, I was told on a new system about to be started up.
Possibly PTC in Philadelphia had some PCCs rebuilt by Brookfield for Garrad Avenue, where restoration of PCC sevice is promised.

There has been talk about a heritage PCC operation connecting Liberty Park, the old CofNJ (and B&O-Reading) site with the nearest Light Rail station.
