Rail crane in Paradise
Posted by Fireflite on Friday, December 11, 2020 3:06 PM

VirtualRailfan.com has a live webcam at Lehman Place Junction, Paradise, PA where the Strasburg meets Amtrak. This "Grab Bag" highlights video was recently posted on their YouTube channel.

https://youtu.be/mBtPJ4fr3eM

At 18:32, after showing the departure of a passenger train returning to Strasburg, the camera pans around and zooms in on, of all things, a large rail crane parked on the tail track. It's unrestored and pretty rusty. There's no boom car coupled to it. Anybody know what it's doing there?

The Museum in Strasburg already has a similar crane in far better shape, so they have no need for another one. Can't imagine the Strasburg RR itself would need one. If they need a crane they call a contractor. Maybe the Strasburg had it sitting in their yard for long time and decided to sell or donate it?

Maybe Zugman knows, that's his neck of the woods.

A LOT of good stuff on that video, not just the Strasburg!  Thanks for posting!
