Hey folks. I got to Cheyenne last week. I saw the ex CNW F7A #401, the E9B 966b, and I could see a beat up E9 behind the roundhouse. Couldn't get a number, and I don't believe it is 951 or 949. Does anyone know? I put some of this on YouTube, plus Sherman Hill. Scott Johnson, Oregon City.

Will possibly shed some light on the current state of some of the Diesels in UPRRs Heritage Fleet Power.
The locomotive in question isn't part of the heritage fleet. She's privately owned and was getting parted out, with the plan to eventually remove the front for static display elsewhere.
A sad end to what was one of the final E units on the Union Pacific roster when the last examples were retired in 1980 (The 951 wasn't resurrected until the mid 1980's), which originally was donated into preservation sans engines and traction motors.
Sadly, her post UP life ended up a rough one thanks to vandals and the elements, and she seems to be doomed.

sorry to hear this as they had beautiful engines that pulled City of St. Louis. Hate to just see them die in a junkyard. They had a couple of their heritage diesels pull the #844 steam special in 2010 from Bailey Yards where she was cut off back to Omaha. Reminded me of my trips with parents and friends on UP.
