Allegany Central RR

Sad to hear of the passing of Jack Showalter of Allegany Central fame. Does anyone know the status of ex CPR G-5's 1238 & 1286?

Good question!  I just checked the website for the "Age of Steam Roundhouse" in Ohio, but no luck, they didn't wind up there.

There are a couple of G-5's but 1238 and 1286 ain't one of them.

Well, if they're still out in Staunton they haven't seen the light of day in decades.

They'll probably surface when the Showalter estate is settled, but I can't think of a sadder reason for their doing so.

I hope they find good homes.

I think they are in Staunton, Va.

They are in Verona Va along with most of the equipment he owned on some private sidings.

Thanks for the information Beverly!  It'll be interesting to see where the equipment ends up.

As I said, hopefully to good homes.
