New York Central question
Posted by Leo_Ames on Saturday, November 15, 2014 10:28 PM

Was observation car Sandy Creek named after the village of Sandy Creek in NYS?

Thanks, I've long wondered about this, but reseach never turned an answer.

I have relayed this question to the NYC-Railroad Yahoo group, and RyPN.  I suspect those are two 'prioritized loci' where we'll locate someone who knows the reasoning for choosing 'Sandy' in the Creek series.

I am thinking it was. They used names of people, places and alike from all over the system. Be interesting to know for sure.  Was Pullman involved as well or instead?

It might be named for the creek itself, in Orleans County, NY.

That one definitily looks like the best candidate, considering it's on the route.
