I walked the length of the park last year and it is wonderful! What a great thing to do with it. You'd have to be nuts not to love it. Rail mounted chaise lounges made of wood! Gardens everywhere! The rails are in view along side where there are gardens or are planked over. I don't think any rails were taken away, also to enter the park there are staircases that take you up and over the original railings and bulwarks so the integrity of the structure is not affected. What an asset to the city and all I can say is, "Well Done!" Now, if only the same thing would happen with Toronto's Gardiner Expressway.
Over the past years, the ex-NYC "High Line" viaduct along Manhattan's former west side freight line, has been converted to a linear park, with much of the rail left in place. Today the project was completed.
