I suppose some parts could be similar enough to be used by either locomotive, but the two designs are quite different, so I seriously question the idea that very many parts could be used interchangeably. I guess I could be wrong.

I could be mistaken, but I believe the other 2-8-2 is supposed to be a parts donor for the 4501.

The other 2-8-2 was ex K&T #10. The 4501 was K&T 12.

TVRM's other 2-8-2
Posted by A McIntosh on Saturday, May 24, 2014 8:17 PM

With work on 4501 about to be completed, I wonder about the other 2-8-2 that was acquired from the K&T. I believe that its number is #12. What is its status? Does TVRM plan on restoring it to operation? If so, will they make it into a Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis style engine?
