I would surely have thought that SOMEBODY would have figured out 3985 by now.  But evidently not...

And Overmod got it!  July 1943 (not sure which day) is the build date for UP's most famous Challenger.  3985 is 70 years old this month.  Does anybody happen to know the actual date?

With all the talk about N&W 611, we've seemed to have forgotten an important birthday for another important steam locomotive this month...
