The Strasburg Rail Road - Steam in the Snow
Posted by Transr on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 11:33 AM

Thought you all might enjoy a steam fix for January - we were fortunate in Pennsylvania to have the Strasburg Rail Road run steam excursions right through to the end of the year.

Not only that, but we got a nice snow storm to help wrap up the season!

Photos in a snow storm from December 29th, 2012 at Strasburg, PA:

2013 season picks back up for Valentine's weekend and then weekends in March.

Nice shots!  It's always Christmas when there's steam in the snow.

These trains look like the Polar Express.  Does anyone come out to serve hot chocolate?

There are two gift shops, one cafeteria, and a restaurant across the street....   I wasn't on the

train so I'm not sure if beverages of any sort were served on board.  There were 3 trains each day, Sat, Sun and Monday wrapping up the year.

Thanks for the information.  I have a grandson who is a little young for a trip to the train now.  I'll remember the information in a year or so.

Make sure to visit "Choo Choo Barn" which is also across the street from the Strasburg Rail Road.

They have one of the largest most intricate HO model train layouts I've ever seen:

A 1700 sq. ft.Model Train Layout

Since 1961, people across the country and around the world have come to visit a truly unique attraction...the Choo Choo Barn -- Traintown U.S.A.®! Our 1,700 square foot train layout features over 150 hand-built animated figures and vehicles and 22 operating trains…
