Confirmed by the Green Bay Herald, today's date.
"...sold to the Friends of 261 for a low six-figure price on Friday (today.)"
According to the article, the Museum will use the money for maintenance of their other railroad exhibits.
Score one for the good guys!

I thought I saw the news crawl on TV station WLUK in Green Bay, WI report that 261 had been sold by National RR Museum to Friends of 261. I only caught tail end of the message, but did not see it again.
