Repairing EBT Equipment with EBT Equipment
Posted by TomDiehl on Saturday, November 21, 2009 9:36 PM

This month's work session with the Friends of the East Broad Top included some parts repair being done in the East Broad Top's Machine Shop, with an original machine bought new by the EBT in 1906. Repair work was done to the suspension links for the rebuilding of Combine #14

After welding, the holes were reamed to the proper size, top holes 1-3/8 inches, bottom holes 1-1/2 inches. Note the motor unit in the background powering the Cincinnatti Drill Press in lieu of the overhead belt system. Motor unit and photos by Dave Richards.

The top hole needed a 45 degree chamfer.

Next season, we hope to have the wiring done for the Lodge and Shipley 22 inch lathe. Cleaning and lubrication is already done on this machine, also bought new by the EBT in 1906. We need to fabricate 4 new hangers for the same project.
