Posted by Steve McDonough on Thursday, July 30, 2009 7:02 PM

Late Thursday info from Sp4449.com says tonight leaves to Durand overnight then leaves at Noon (Eastern time) for Michigan City IN. The rest of the train heads into Union Station arrival at 8PM. The SP4449 will then head west to Chicago via NS (at night?) from Porter Jct. to the connection just west of the Calumet river bridge know as Rock Island Jct. Then on Belt Railway of Chicago passing Clearing yard in Bedford Park to join the Indiana Harbor Belt and head north to B-12 in Franklin Park. By then it will early morning Sat. so it will stay by Franklin Park Metra station until 3:30PM.Probably moved to a secure spot in either Bensenville or Galewood yard til Sunday.Trip on Sunday leaves at 10:00AM for

the run to Milwaukee Amtrak depot.

Of course IF its stopping at Michigan City that will be where to be but I thing if you read the line"the steam locomotive will be taken off the train approximately 20 miles west of Michigan City.." then that is Colehour yard just near the border of IL.That a good spot at grade along a parallel road. It's just

before the Rock Island Jct. and oh yes the Calumet River bridge!

http://www.sp4449.com/

It's supposed to be in Mpls by 6, I figure it will be thru my area (Cottage Grove / Newport) around 5. It's taking the Empire Builder route.
