There were three steam locomotives for the 1975-76 Freedom Train.  If I recall correctly the handoff between east and west was in Chicago Illinois, so the Reading T1 most likely is the engine that went to Michigan.  The 4449 came through Wisconsin and headed west.  The Texas & Pacific 2-10-4 did the south.  Obviously these are not precise geographic limits.  For most people the Reading T-1 was "the" Freedom Train engine, but I was happy to see the Daylight engine.  And it will be coming through Milwaukee again to get to Michigan (and go back, presumably). 

The Freedom Train was really something to see, believe me.

Is this 4449's first ever trip to Michigan . also back in 1976 why didn't 4449 went to Michigan in the first place during the freedom train.
