I was at Cass this weekend, we rode the train up to Whittaker. It was a great trip! But it was made better, because, when I got back on the train at Whittaker, a guy told me to ask the engineer if I could ride in the cab. I just about flew off that car. This was not my first cab ride, but it was definately the best! It has to be hard to run a Shay down that mountain. The engineer had his hand on the brake pretty much the whole time, putting them on and off.
The guy told my dad that he lives down there and rides the train almost every day. I was the fifth person he told to ride in the cab that day. So, if you're at Cass, ask the engineer for a cab ride. It doesn't cost anything extra.
