Huckleberry RR revisited
Posted by Mr_Ash on Saturday, June 21, 2008 8:56 AM

I drove up to Flint MI again yesterday with my dad and sisters 2yr old son to see the D&RGW K27 464 in action again. Our first trip of the day we rode in the first car behind the locomotive, D&RGW J&S coach 306 with one of the brakeman whos job was to hop off and throw the switches at the reverse loops. There were another 10 or so people in the coach when we got on but the brakeman scared them all off saying the coach would get smokey because its the first car but it never did so we got the coach to ourselfs

Then we walked around Crossroads village, had some burgers and ice cream and took a ride on the Genesee Belle riverboat, that was nice it turned out to be a really nice day and on our way back to the dock we saw 464 pulling her passenger train along the lakeshore

After that we were going to head home but the kiddo begged and begged to go on the train again so we got some tickets for the last train of the day and ended up getting to ride in the caboose cupola!

I will post pictures when I get them uploaded later on Smile [:)]
