It was a recreation of the summer of 1953. That was when the 3751 pulled the final steam-powered run of the San Diegan passenger train. Apparently, it performed flawlessly and Pentrex is planning to release a DVD on the excursion. I saw a trailer of it and it would be worth checking out.

I arrived in Los Angeles at 3:55 p.m. on the Amtrak Surfiner from San Diego, and passed by

Santa Fe #3751. I noticed it was under steam.
