SP 4294
Posted by Joby on Thursday, February 21, 2008 1:34 AM

Some friends and I were wondering as to the current prospects for bringing SP 4294 back to operating conditions, and if any groups are trying to do so.

Just imagine the crowds for a run to LA....there wouldn't be a Hotel room available from Fresno to San Fernando.

Anyway, any info would be appreciated.

All it takes is a combination of money (lots of it) and political connections (which can convince the RRs to let you run it).

I doubt the museum would give up thier centerpiece, then it would have all the issues pitched against restoring a Big Boy due to its size. It would be an impressive site to see though.

Personally I would rather see SP #3025 currently at Traveltown be brought back to the land of the living

Smaller engine, easier to find a place to house it and a tad bit easier to dissassemble and rebuilt.
