Reading 2100 Condition and Whereabouts...???
Posted by Ramblin' Hobo on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 4:25 PM

From what I know, a few months ago, Reading T1 number 2100 was taken across the pass to eastern Washington (somewhat disapointing since I was hoping to get over to Tacoma to see it after returning from a long Navy deployment... (almost eight months).

So if anyone can tell me, where is it and what is it doing? Is there something wrong with her?

David,

You are wondering what happened to the Reading 2100. Well, I located it yesterday, quite by accident. While driving to work later than normal, I spotted a steam locomotive parked on a siding several hundered yards off the road that I was travelling. I found my way over to it and discovered that it was the Reading 2100. I was able to walk around it and even climb up to the cab however was not able to enter the cab as the curtains were close and locked shut.

The locomotive and both of its tenders are located just south of the Tri City Railroad shops in North Richland, Washington. I don't know how long it has been here because I normally ride to work in a vanpool and by the timne that we pass this spot, I am normally fast asleep.

I don't know why it is here or what plans there are for it, but now you know where it is.

Do you know where this engine is now? My son and I used to drive out to that spot to view 2100, but it recently disappeared. Any ideas where it went? ~M~
