Paul, not in any way to enter the argument, but just to supply some information. Minoru Yamasaki, the architect for the World Trade Towers, and more importantly for me, a good client and architect for two synagogues for which I was acoustical consultant, and eventually a family friend, told me he resented being called Japanese. He said he was an American of Japanese descent and was upset every time some architectural critic or newspaper reporter described him as a "Japanese architect." Also, we knew that sons of parents who were in these internment camps at the same time were serving faithfully in the US Army. However, there was a policy decision to have them serve in the North African and European theatres, and not in the Pacific theatre.
