<p>Firelock76,</p> <p>take a look at the following drawing, which reveals some of the shortcomings:</p> <p><a href="http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/SirMadig/S10P8Vergleich960breit_zps22067db7.jpg"><img src="http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/SirMadig/S10P8Vergleich960breit_zps22067db7.jpg" alt=" " border="0" /></a></p> <ul> <li>Narrow firebox, requiring an experienced fireman to make her steam properly.</li> <li>Stack and cylinder output don´t line up, causing a bent in the blast pipe duct, reducing draft and leaving her short of breath quite often.</li> <li>Too much weight on the leading truck, giving her a bumpy ride.</li> </ul> <p>It was finally her ruggedness and low cost which made her successful, in spite of bad steaming capability.</p>
