Vancouver Island Railroads
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, December 29, 2006 11:09 AM
I was born and raised in NE Ohio so most of my railroad knowledge revolves around the B&O, C&O, Chessie System, Conrail and PRR.  However, I am interested in any info I can find on modern railroads operating on Vancouver Island.  I have a few leads but I am not really sure where to start.  I have only been to Canada once in my life as a boy, and that was to Eastern Canada.  I am confused as to where to start so any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi. My source for Canadian Railroad information is http://www.bytownrailwaysociety.ca/ the Bytown Railway Society.  They publish a magazine that covers the Canadian Scene and also the Canadian Trackside Guide (new edition about March each year.)

As best as I can see, all they have is the Esquimalt and Nanimo, from Victoria north.,  and a number of industrial lines (paper/logging companies).

And the museums.
