I stayed at the Best Motel on hwy 14 just north of the old 58 intersection last weekend. Not the greatest but decent and the price was right ($36 for a double) and you have a good view of the tracks. There was a derailment in Mojave Sunday and we had front row seats from the room. There are others along 14 with views of the tracks too like motel 6 by the overpass. In Tehachapi there is a Best Western but only one room has a view of the tracks (at an angle). The rest of the rooms have no windows faceing the tracks.

Tehachapi info needed urgently
Posted by Jack_S on Monday, May 29, 2006 3:53 PM
I need info about mid-week lodging and meals in and around Tehachapi. My wife and I are takng a trip tomorrow (Tuesday 30 May 2006) to get out of the LA Basin and see some trains. I know there are railfan favored motels and restaurants in Tehachapi and Mojave. I have seen them mentioned online but I can't remember where.

Anyone have a URL or other reference?

Jack
