Reading the thread on Canadian Railway ops, got me to thinking about this topic, a railroad connection from Alaska. There was an external connection from the website of the Alaska Railroad to this site:

I do not know how interesting this topic is to a lot of us, but as the railroad map shrinks, this is an area of potential growth, and this site links to some interesting studies by ententies as the Corps of Engineers and Canadian National. To construct this line would be an engineering feat the likes of which has not been seen in decades and would certainly serve to open up Alaska and provide some interesting railroading
