Bay Area Railfan Opportunities - anything left?

I will be attending a business conference in downtown SanFrancisco in late May. It has been many years since I have visitied the area.
Are there any places left within an easy drive or BART ride from downtown for late afternoon of railfan and photo opportunities?
I'd appreciate replies, even if the news is bad: i.e., not much left to do there..Thanks,
