Well if you look at the other articles, and see some of the things that are being said, you will notice they are telling you more than any magazine or book can tell. Then you have the computer to look up such information, like I did last night. I went to a webpage to see if anyone knew of or where I could find the information on train maps of long ago. I got a reply today about that , and the person who wrote back to me told me to check out a webpage that covers all of railroading from the beginning to now. This is the webpage to check out:

I notice they no longer send the trackside guide in Trains Magazine. I heard it was because of time to get project and money. I wi***hey had not started the guide. It was very interesting while it lasted.
