Hi, I am going to Tennessee around easter and wondered if there were any good places to watch trains on the way there. we will be going via 75 and may take a detour onto 23 if the freeway doesent get opened in the rock silde area. Here is the link to the 75 rout.https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Canton,+MI/Jackson+Mountain+Homes,+1662+East+Parkway,+Gatlinburg,+TN+37738/@38.5901297,-85.5620849,7z/data=!4m13!4m12!1m5!1m1!1s0x883b53be61dd223f:0x4cfc83026575a920!2m2!1d-83.482116!2d42.3086444!1m5!1m1!1s0x885957d1b25840e3:0xceb19826148c228b!2m2!1d-83.4562187!2d35.7281808
We will be staying in a cabin on the mountains there and I dont plan on doing any railfanning there, only on the way.
Thanks,
Chris
Both NS and CSX run through Knoxvillie and points North, The Knoxvillie and Holston River Railroad is a shortline and switching line that is pretty neat. For big time railfanning west of Knoxvillie aroun Harriman the NS CNO&TP line is very active. Also the Ludlow Ky area around Cinncy is worth a hour or two of your time.
