If you do go, do check out the Woodcrest shops area. I've only been there once and i'd do anything to go back there again. Now that CN has "closed" WC's ex-Fond du Lac shops for heavy repairs, many more loco's are sent there. Great place to watch trains! Also, you get a variety of loco's too. Thats whats great about the Chicago area...so much variety.

traingeek,

If you've located Homewood and do indeed travel there, note that the CN/IC's Markham Yard/Homewood-Woodcrest shops area is immediately north of the Amtrak station. This is a fascinating area to visit.

The Reason is I've heard that theres going to be a "railroad days" there and was wondering when that is, where, and if you can get there by train.

Where is homewood Illinois located at? Does anyone know where I can get a map to find it? And does Amtrak run through there?
