Grandma got runover by A freight train[:D][xx(]
walking down the train tracks yesterday
you can say theres no such thing as hoboes
but as for me and granpa we belive
when we found her late this morning
at the scene of the tracks
she had spike marks on her forehead
and incriminating flange marks on her back

as for me im not drinking eggnog just beer
I must admit she makes some good treats
like ritz crackers with peanut butter dipped in chocalate
they taste great cold
she also makes a good spice cake
and who can forget the rum balls
I ate 54 of them still not plastered
well ive got some fun memories of this place
we live next door to the KCS line 1 block east of high oaks yd they gave it

moss point near the CSXT line I remember when this was ICG lines
Thru here then midsouth took over Thats was my 1st train ride I was 14
My brother was 10 we always rode that one train to the game room
but this time he didnt stop till bossier city La some 200 miles west

Your complaining about your weather? [8)]
I just went through Jackson last week, 74 degrees and sunny [8D]
toured Vicksburg. I don't know what the temp is down there now but its better then the 18 degrees we have in MN.[:(]

You know you can't get ice cubes in MS. anymore. Nope ! the lady that knew the receipe moved to Texas.[(-D]

I'll say one thing though. If those Southern boys in Vickburg wouldn't have run out of food and ammo they would still be fightn today. What a natural fortress.

Even without ice cubes I'd love to live in MS. I'd even [:-^] Dixie.

[#dots]it may be dum to you but think about this a lot of people that help build this great country traveld by train before the super chief many things were built by hoboes A lot of depots were built buy hoboes and they still have there convention in britt Ia every year we are not the enemy we are humans to ive seen a lot of rail fans stand to close to the tracks when taking pics and also jump on the tracks after the train passes to get a shot at the last car that is also dangerous you can trip and fall or some thing could break off and hit you like an air hose or coupler pin but i dont glorify train hopping its dangerous but so is driving while talking on your cellphone and trying to find your paperwork at 65 mph but dont complain about what i do and i wont tell you off its stupid to sit here and argue you type what you want and ill do the same but you wont see any pics of me waving from a boxcar cause im smarter than that i stay hid when i ride
but your welcome to speak your mind just quit your bitchin please

thanks and sorry for my temper

Hi Slic,
I did like Mississippi. I had planned on taking the Natches Trace Parkway all the way through the State but our plans to go to Nashvile changed.
We are makeing plans to head back down this spring or early summer. Its only one night away by fast carrage. I had intended to go from orlando to new orleans then pass through Mississippi to home but decided to skip New Orleans and spend time in Mississippi instead. Am glad we did. Loved it, so did my wife and child, but couldn't stay as long as we wanted.

Can't help but notice the reaction to your train hopping. A lot has changed since I was young. In my day I don't think anybody but the RRs were concerned about train hopping.
It was a way to get from here to there FREE. Kids used to play on the tracks and not get hurt ( I was one of them ). Our parents would tell us to be carefull and warn us that if we got too close to the tracks when a train was coming we'd get sucked in. We always watched for the trains and ran into the weeds as far as we could get. That actually stopped when once a weed burner came down the tracks. Yikes! we saw that coming and we instantly became the fastest land animals it was close too!
Interestingly "us kids" were only 7 or 8 years old and playing on or by the tracks every chance we got.

Now days we don't let our kids out on the street in our neigborhoods alone until they drive away (seems like)

Things have changed..... And then there's insurence. What would happen if our society just got rid of insurence?
Well thats another forum hey.
