Surviving MSTS: Route Tips and Chat
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, July 2, 2007 5:31 PM

okay,

I have been Reading lately that people are complaining about some routes like Marias pass, saying they always derail on the pass (Using default Equpment.) Now as for me, I always Use CEFX#1005 AC4400CW or any other AC44 or dash 9 for the pass and I have never derailed on the route. (im not saying i have never crashed before...)

Now, lets review surviving marias pass...

1. Dont use Default Dash 9

2. People almost never obey the 20 MPH speed marker. OBEY IT! OBEY IT LIKE CIRCUS MONKEY!

3. Preferribly use a Dash 9 (from trainsim.com,) or an AC4400CW's dynamics to get down the pass. Trust me, It works.

4. If Dynamics arent slowing you down fast enough, use loco brake. But dont go from 0% to 100% constantly. Thats how you brake couplers.

5. If Emergency brakes arent working, Remember, use handbrakes on the cars.

6. on the fisrt incline on the pass put on brakes if you have a long train. The end of the train is still going down the pass but the front is going up. Keep braking untill the rear is level or untill you have more cars on one slope. If not, thats how runaways can start.

7. I cannot stress this enough... DONT USE DEFAULT DASH 9. They suck naked meat unless with a modded eng. file.
